Intel 64-Bit Itanium schedule changing
Reuters reports that Hewlett-Packard Co. is adjusting its own marketing plans for high-end computers because Intel's roll-out of its 64-Bit Itanium is running ahead of the schedule that HP had relied on. An Intel spokesman said the Itanium chips would be in pilot use late this year with systems expected in 2002.
In related news, Intel has announced that Q1 income was down 82 percent, slightly better than expected.
