Integrated graphics platforms to be mainstream technology for handsets
With more and more handset makers putting 3D graphics into mobile phones, handset platforms with integrated graphics technology will become the mainstream products in the market, according to Tony King-Smith, vice president for marketing at Imagination Technologies. In view of power consumption and the availability of space, there is no room for further development for discrete graphics chips in handset applications, although some makers are developing handsets with discrete graphics parts, said King-Smith.
