Industry alliance chooses home networking standard
An industry consortium of leading firms has decided on a technology that will allow consumers to connect devices to the Internet through their home electrical outlets.
The technology, by Intellon, will let users share Internet access, play video games, talk on the phone, and enjoy movies and music throughout the house. The HomePlug Powerline Alliance will begin testing the technology and hopes to release a final standard by the end of the year.
