Increasing Upstream Broadband by 50%

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Texas Instruments has announced a new technology that features end-to-end advanced Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and could give broadband users a 50% increase in upstream bandwidth. The technology makes use of a new dual-channel receiver at the headend, a newly certified device at the customer site, and TI's INCA (increased capacity ingress cancellation) technology. TI says that Advanced TDMA is the natural evolution of the data-over-cable-service interface specification (DOCSIS) optimized for symmetric services. Adding greater upstream bandwidth should accelerate the adoption of symmetric services such as voice, multi-session videoconferencing and peer-to-peer networking.
