Imation RipGO! Mini CD-R and Digital Audio Player

A tiny CD-R device that uses tiny CD-Rs doesn't seem like a bad idea, but since folks aren't exactly tripping over each other to embrace the technology, it unfortunately seems to fall into the "ain't it cool" category of devices that are just a little too expensive for mass appeal (like those nifty mini-disc recorders that you don't see too much of anymore). Imation's RipGO! mini CD-R burner and digital audio player fits in the palm of your hand and uses mini (80mm) CD-R discs to store up to 185MB of digital data or music. The battery-powered USB CD-R drive hooks up to your computer via USB and records at 4x4x6. It will be available October 25th at an MSRP of $399.99. The mini CD-R media discs are available in five neon colors for around $10 a pop. If it were a CD-RW device that used $10 mini discs, it would be really handy because you could use it for laptop backups as well as music storage. Maybe next year...
