Ike Turner's arrest was based on computer glitch
Los Angeles (CA) - Ike Turner's pandered arrest this week for possession of illegal drugs was actually based on a recalled warrant that accidentally popped back up on the Los Angeles Police Department computers.
The incident dates back to the late 1980s, when Turner had an outstanding warrant for felony drugs charges. However, by 1989, the warrant was recalled.
The LAPD is now claiming a computer error put Turner's name back on the grid and re-activated the expired warrant. This led police to arrest 75-year-old Turner and toss him in jail without bail, after an officer pulled him over for speeding and ran a standard warrant check.
Turner was released a little over 15 hours after he was booked, reports the LA Times. He has filed a lawsuit seeking $5000 for wrongful imprisonment.
