More Than Two Million Have Downloaded IE9 Beta
A better browser for Windows 7.
Internet Explorer 9 beta released just a week ago and has already attracted millions of downloads. Microsoft characterized the response as "pretty overwhelming," was at the same time "very humbled."
In the first two days, over 2 million people worldwide downloaded IE9 Beta. This number blasts the old Internet Explorer 8 Beta numbers, which launched in August 2008, that accumulated 1.3 million downloads over the first five days.
"All in all, we are encouraged about the very early response to the IE9 release this past week, namely because it signals that the emphasis on making websites shine through Windows is resonating," said Roger Capriotti, Group Product Planner at Microsoft. "We are looking forward to more and more partners building great experiences through Internet Explorer 9 to deliver a more beautiful web."
Have you tried IE9 beta yet? If so, is it going to replace anything as your primary browser?

I tried IE9 - quite liked the look but prefer separate search box. Had to un-install it because it breaks Share Point. Gone back to IE8 which works fine with share point. Still prefer Firefox.
Firefox 4.
i tried it, liked the new look and ultra fast boot up time(compared to Firefox 4 Beta 6) but hated the unchanged option box and its inability to customize its look. Also the lack of addons pushed me back to Firefox.
Also if IE9 supposed to be a "modern browser", claimed by M$, why it still have the out of place texts and links on most of the website just like IE8. Every time I need to use the browser ,I need to make sure the Compatibility Tab is clicked. In comparison Firefox and Chrome only have some websites that are displayed incorrect.
I hope M$ rectified the problems before the final release and be competitive again.
At least it has a "compatibility" mode ..and it is jsut a beta...

I will wait for release to try this out, as I8 works fine for me ...As for the addons they are jsut a big security risk and i don't block adverts etc anyway ...
I hope it will be good and stop some of the fanboi'ism though ...i'm fine on the current one for now (if it aint brok, don't fix it eh).
!ogogog browser wars (will be good for all of us in the end eh
I am liking it so far, UI is clear and uncluttered, more screen real estate than other browsers(by default anyway). Can run in IE 7, 8 or 9 mode too.
I tried it, I like it, but I need my FF addons. NoScript, ABP, Greasemonkey and the like.
Yup! Millions of people have downloaded...just like I did...
Unfortunately..
I have also uninstalled it...
Still prefer the good old Firefox and its add-ons.
Downloaded it and like it a lot. Thumbs up.
I love the ability to pin websites to the taskbar, and the assosiated jump lists - eg facebook and quick access to mail and the fact it takes the websites dominant icon colour and uses it for the back/forward buttons (pinned websites only). But I do wish it had a Spell Check as standard like chrome.
Just needs some tweaks, but I've not had any real issues.
I have installed it and wished I hadn't there are so many annoying bugs Im finding.
It is soo full of bugs, even FF beta 4 works better.See what happens if you try to use facebook on IE9, or simply start surfing with it...you will see
I installed IE9 and from my experience it is really fast (faster than firefox) and is quite stable, some people are finding it unstable as it is a BETA. great browser but did not yet replace chrome in my opinion
