ICANN to choose TLD suffixes
The International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) issued a report last Friday discussing 44 applications for new top-level domain (TLD) names. By the end of this week, at least some should get official approval, but the controversy that has always surrounded ICANN will certainly accompany any moves it makes.
Among the suffixes that have gained encouraging ICANN nods are .air, .fin, geo, .info, .one, .biz and .web. Among those receiving negative signals were suffixes that would attempt to segregate by age such as .xxx and .kids.
