IC design firms: 3Q contract manufacturing prices not likely to rise
It appears unlikely that foundries will raise their contract-manufacturing fees in the third quarter. United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) had notified IC design firms that it would raise fees for 0.35 to 0.5-micron processing on June 1 by about 10%. However, it has not confirmed the increase, and foundries must notify clients 6-12 weeks in advance of price increases.
