IBM touts nanotech progress

IBM Corp. is promoting its recent research breakthroughs in quantum computing as a path to the next generation of computers. The company has recently produced a three bit quantum computer, only months after a five bit breakthrough. Though many manufacturing challenges must be overcome before microscopic computing and memory devices can be commercially viable, IBM seems to be convinced that it is on the right track to devices, invisible to the naked eye, that can process 3,000 million instructions per second.
