IBM server translates instantly

by - source: Tom's Hardware

IBM's new WebSphere Translation Server is touted as being able to translate English to and from Spanish, German, French, and Italian in real-time. It also translates English in one direction into traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The product is being marketed to ISPs, corporations, and other groups who need instant translations of Web pages, email, and online chat. IBM believes the increasingly number of non-English speakers on the Web will drive sales of the server.

Ozzie Osborne, general manager of IBM Voice Systems, says the server will be priced at about $10,000 per language pair.
