IBM received 3248 patents in 2004
According to data released by US Patent and Trademark office, IBM once again topped the list of organizations that received the most patents within the one year. The company leads the list with 3248 patents, down from 3415 in 2003. Matsushita (Panasonic) follows with 1934 patents (2003 : 1774) in second place. Canon came in third registering 1805 patents (2003 : 1992).
The top-10 also includes Hewlett-Packard (1775), Micron (1760), Samsung (1604), Intel (1601), and Sony (1305).
