IBM nanoprocess breakthrough commercially feasible

by - source: Tom's Hardware

IBM researchers have announced a breakthrough process for bulk production of nanotube transistors that could result in nanoscale processors in only ten years. The "constructive destruction" process removes unusable nanotubes from a wafer instead of presorting on a microscopic basis.

Thomas Theis, director of physical sciences at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center said, "We believe IBM has now passed a major milestone on the road toward molecular-scale chips. Our researcher's study... proves that we can grow carbon nanotube transistors in a manner similar to the way we grow silicon transistors."
