IBM introduces Xeon-based blade server
On September 24, IBM launched a dual-Xeon-powered blade server designed to hold up to 84 blades per rack. The BladeCenter, the first blade server based on Intel's Xeon processor from a major vendor, supports Linux, Microsoft Windows and Novell Netware. Volume shipments will begin worldwide in November at a base price of $1,879 US.
