IBM fires up SRAM 'Blue Flame' chip
IBM has unveiled a 2GHz embedded SRAM core for its next-generation Blue Flame mainframe microprocessor.
The company claims its embedded core is the fastest available, with a read access time of at least below 430 picoseconds, or 430 billionths of a second. The Blue Flame microprocessor, which operates at speeds of 1 GHz in its labs, will be available in the "near future," IBM officials said.
