IBM, Dell first with 1.13GHz PIIIs

Dell and IBM have announced plans for PCs based on Intel's just-released 1.13GHz Pentium III processor.

Dell's 1.13GHz Dimension will include a 45GB hard drive, 128MB of Direct RDRAM, a 64MB Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS card, a 2X DVD-ROM, and a CD-RW drive, for $4,199. IBM's Aptiva S series also features 128MB of Direct RDRAM, a 40GB hard drive, CD-RW drive and 32MB Nvidia GeForce 256 card for $2,999.

Rival AMD is set to debut a 1.1 GHz Athlon processor later this month.
