Software And Feature Details
Adaptec provides its Storage Manager for configuration and management of the SnapServer appliances. This program might be familiar to administrators, as it is very similar to the software Adaptec provides with its RAID controllers. Since the SnapServers are fully featured PCs with a customized operating system and an Adaptec storage adapter inside, using the existing solutions make a lot of sense.
There are three configuration steps: appliance configuration, RAID pool creation and storage provisioning. The SnapServer may also be managed using Microsoft’s Storage Manager. Additional software features include email notification, command line interface (CLI) support for batched operations and cron jobs, snapshot support, online capacity expansion, RAID level migration, RAID import and export between SnapServers, mirrored volumes with auto-failover, volume cloning, multiple path support for bandwidth increase and Windows Cluster support.
