Apple Confirms UK Price for the iPhone 4S
So how much is the iPhone 4S going to set you back?
Apple yesterday evening took the wraps off of the iPhone 4S, the highly-anticipated sequel to the iPhone 4. Though we know that American carriers will be charging $199 and upwards for the device and a two-year contract, Apple didn't mention much about UK pricing during its special event at 4 Infinite Loop yesterday afternoon. However, the company has since confirmed off contract pricing for the cheapest iPhone 4S, with more details to come at a later date.
Apple has said the 16GB iPhone 4S will set customers back £499 when it launches on 14 October. The company has not yet provided pricing for the 32GB or 64GB models but they are rumoured to cost £579 and £659, respectively. Vodafone, 3UK and O2 have all confirmed that they will be carrying the phone once it launches, so those looking for a subsidy (along with a contract) know where to go in nine days' time. Sadly, they have not released any information as to what kind of plan you'll need to sign up for to snag the phone at a reasonable price.
The iPhone 4S boasts Apple's dual-core A5 CPU (the same one that powers the iPad 2), a dual-core GPU, a 3.5-inch retina display, extended battery-life, iOS 5, dual antennae, a GSM and CDMA radio, and Siri, the new voice-controlled personal assistant from Apple.
