Esitmated 1 million unlocked iPhones in the US
BREAKING NEWS : There are unlocked iPhones all over the place ! Who knew ?
According to a study by Bernstein Research, over a quarter of the 4 million iPhones purchased in the US have been unlocked.
Shocking as that may be, hold tight.
Apple and AT&T recently admitted that they were aware of those legendary unlocked iPhones but we’re not sure that they’re aware the problem was. . .well, such a problem.
Apple recently reported that it had sold 3.7 million iPhones worldwide since the phones launch in June 2007.
Given that Apple has sold 3.7 million iPhones in total and it’s estimated that European operators have sold between 300,000 and 400,000 handsets, that means logically, the amount of iPhones sold in the states should be around 3.3 million.
Then, along comes AT&T with it’s exclusive iPhone contract and claims to have sold 2 million handsets meaning there’s 1.3 million iPhones knocking around somewhere. . .
