UK iPhone tariffs reduced, effective February 1st

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

UK iPhone customers are about to enjoy some cheaper phone calls and texts.

Apple iPhone service provider O2 UK has announced that it will cut tarriffs for the iPhone starting on Friday.

O2 announced new price plans across the board effective for new and existing customers from February 1st. These changes will also affect iPhone owners.

The basic £35 monthly contract will now offer three times the minutes and twice the texts as before. The £55 contract will be reduced to just £45 with texts and minutes remaining the same.

O2 UK will give customers the chance to upgrade to some kind of new, deluxe tariff. Priced at £75 per month the chatterbox contract gives you 3,000 minutes and 500 texts.

All three tariffs will continue to offer unlimited data (email/web) & Wi-Fi (O2 Hotspots), Visual Voicemail and reduced roaming rates.

This kind reminds us of the time when Apple cut the price of the iPhone in the U.S. Wonder if we’ll get any lawsuits out of this one…

I hope not. Being based in Dublin, I'll probably have to go and queue.

Does anyone else think this may have something to do with the smallish sales figures announced for iphones in England a couple of days ago?

A big price drop is hardly a sign that things are going as planned.

I do hope it never comes to Ireland, i'd hate to see Irish prices for this thing considering the cost of regular phone tariffs here.

Don't ask me. I can't even afford a pair of pants.
