HP to introduce servers using Opterons
Hewlett-Packard on Tuesday said it will sell server computers this year using AMD’s Opteron chips, as a less costly alternative to industry leader Intel’s Itanium chips. Under a multiyear purchasing, marketing and technology collaboration agreement, HP’s ProLiant server line will be powered by AMD’s 64-bit Opteron processor.
