HP to debut six-processor servers
Hewlett-Packard will introduce new Intel-based servers next week with an unusual six-processor design.
The Netserver LH6000 and LT6000r servers will initially sell for $25,000 - the same price as the four-processor versions, a company spokesperson said.
Also next week, rival IBM plans to unveil two new four-processor versions of its Intel-based Netfinity server line. The IBM 7100 and 7600 will include "chipkill" technology, which lets computers continue working even when memory elements go faulty.
