HP launches Intel-designed servers
Hewlett-Packard has launched a line of server appliances designed by Intel Corp. The servers perform specialized functions, such as streaming video or encryption, more optimally than general-purpose servers. Server appliances, bundled with software and services, are marketed directly to customers and have a higher margin for PC makers. HP intends to take over more of the design functions for such appliances in the future.
