HP Labs eyes shutdown of Cambridge unit
Despite its vow not to strip research assets in a massive layoff, Hewlett-Packard is closing a 25-person lab in Cambridge, Mass., run by its HP Labs development division.
Cambridge Research Laboratory was established in 1987. Recent projects have included mobile technologies ; large-scale multimedia indexing ; "smart" projectors, which can display an image on most surfaces ; distributed systems ; and parallel computing.
