HP announces 50 ppm color printer
Palo Alto (HP) - Hewlett-Packard (HP) this morning announced two enterprise multi function printers (MFP) that are capable of cranking out up to 50 pages per minute (ppm) in color - or 60 ppm in black and white.
The new CM8060 and CM8050 Color MFPs use a new ink printer engine, which promises customers faster printing speeds, higher print quality and lower operation cost. The 8060 flagship model delivers print quality in 60 ppm (b/w) and 50 ppm (color). If draft (copy) quality is enough, the color speed increases to 57 ppm and b/w speed to 71 ppm.
The CM8050 shares key technology and components with the 8060 - including an Intel 1.6 GHz Pentium 730 processor, 1 GB of DDR2 memory, a 80 GB hard drive, a 10" color screen, and a 600 dpi scanner - but offers a slightly reduced printing speed of 50/40 ppm.
Both printers are offered mainly through service and lease contracts, but companies who are interested in purchasing an 8000-series printer should be prepared paying $18,900 for the 8050 and $23,500 for the 8060 model.
