HP aims Superdome server at Sun
Hewlett-Packard is vying for a bigger part of the Unix server market, a booming Web-driven business dominated by Sun Microsystems, with its new 64-bit Superdome. The Superdome will support Intel's forthcoming 64-bit processors early next year and will use IA-64 processors when they are available. Both HP and IBM are hoping that delays in the release of Sun's UltraSPARC III processor, more than a year late, will give them a chance to take market share from Sun.
