HP adopts Athlon
Hewlett-Packard has quietly started shipping consumer PCs using AMD's Athlon processor to some retail outlets. Direct sales via the web are likely to begin by early March.
The Athlon-based Pavilion models have already appeared in Sam's Clubs and Costco stores.
With HP on board, AMD can boast design wins in four out of the top five PC makers for its Athlon processors. Dell remains the holdout.
