HP adds Pentium III to slim notebooks
Hewlett-Packard tomorrow unveils a redesigned version of its slim OmniBook 900 laptop featuring a 500-Mhz Pentium III processor, currently Intel's fastest notebook chip.
The portable will also come with a 13" screen for the first time,
company officials said, and cost around $3,300, depending on configuration.
Larger screens and faster processors are part of an industry-wide effort to
close the performance gap between notebooks and desktop PCs, which generally carry lower profit margins than notebooks.
