Mission Viejo (CA) - Looking for a really large gaming center? Here you go: We first talked about Howie's Game Shack back in May, but you only saw the 250 PCs and Xbox consoles in pictures. TG Daily is following up with an interview with the owner. Get a glimpse of what it takes to run what is most likely the largest game center in the U.S.
Game Shack owner Howie Makler isn't your average business man. There's the used car salesman-flair on the one side and tremendous enthusiasm for his idea on the other. Follow us around as we learn more about the center itself and what you see as a visitor and get an idea of the challenges Makler faces, including not only administration but technological hurdles as well. Huge electricity bills, blown fuses and patching headaches are all part of the game at Howie's. We even had a peek inside of his "secret" network room.
Makler told us that the $1.5 million dollar Shack is just a prototype and that he plans on opening 300 more across the United States.
