Online retailers say they are now accepting orders for Mac OS 9, slated to start shipping in October.
The online Apple Store is offering advance orders on the Mac OS upgrade for $99. Meanwhile, MacMall, ClubMac, Cyberian Outpost Inc., MacZone and MacWarehouse all said they're enjoying brisk sales of the new OS, which most said they have priced at $89.95.
Mac OS 9 will include a variety of enhancements, including an upgraded version of Apple's Sherlock Internet search technology, the ability to set voice-activated passwords and improved multi-user capabilities.
