Home networks running on ac power lines are approaching reality as chipmakers supporting the technology begin making deals with OEMs. Novell spin-off Inari Corp. reports three OEMs will use its 2-Mbit/second system in system products and Inari projects a 12-Mbit/s chip Q3. Intellon Corp. will sample a chip within a few months. Though three organizations are working on standards for home networking based on power lines, the technology has attracted the interest of many of the most important tech companies.
