Hollywood craves cancellation of iCraveTV
More than a dozen movie studios and broadcasters filed suit against Canadian company iCraveTV.com for sending copyrighted television programs over the Internet without permission.
The lawsuit aims "to stop what we think is one of the most brazen thefts of intellectual property ever committed in the U.S.," Jack Valenti, president of the Motion Picture Association of America.
iCraveTV's Web site attempts to limit its Internet TV programming to residents of Canada, where copyright protection laws are far more liberal than in the United States. However, anyone on the Internet can view the shows by claiming to have a Canadian telephone area code.
