Sequential Read/Write Throughput

Ad

Although you’ll see more results dominated by Western Digital, the new Caviar Black cannot beat the new Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B, and it does not come close to the first competitor regarding throughput, the Samsung Spinpoint F1 at a maximum of 119.5 MB/s. The result of 106 MB/s is still good, which helps WD to beat Seagate.

The write performance numbers are similar to those of read throughput. The undisputed leader is WD’s 10,000 RPM 2.5” VelociRaptor, but Samsung’s Spinpoint F1 and the new Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B deliver better throughput.

Quote :Clearly, not everyone really needs a terabyte of storage, but there are several other reasons to go for such a drive. First up is the appealing capacity, which is one of the best selling points you can think of.

Nice...

It's a pity you didn't test the WD6400AAKS because it offers even better performance than the WD1001FALS.

Temperature measurements given only in Fahrenheit??

More than 90% of population in this world do not use these measurement units. Please add degree Celsius to the articles.

Burma, Lyberia and the USA are the only three countries in the world to use these 19th century measurements, drag yourself in the 21st century

Well I'm English and I live in England - I still prefer Fahrenheit... and pounds & ounces... so there.

@xyzzz
Reality check: Britain changed from Fahrenheit to Celsius in the beginning of 1970'ies, that like when the 8 bit microprocessor arrived.

Now I do not see what your personal preference for this outdated system has to do with my request that Tom Hardware Guide should add degree Celsius to the articles? As that is what most people use - also in your country.
