Hitachi Consulting, the business and IT consulting company of Hitachi, today said that it will support Universal 3D (U3D), a technology that recently has been created by Intel, the 3D Industry Forum and Ecma. U3D is developed as an open and extensible format to display 3D graphics. As main driver of the research project, Intel hopes that U3D will become the "JPEG for 3D graphics". The format currently is supported in a handful of applications, such as the recently released Adobe Acrobat 7. (THG)
