Finally, we get to the heart of the matter: is the FP767-12 the monitor that gamers have been dreaming of for months?
It's good. It's even very good. But the 20 ms Hydis panel is still more responsive than its own panel.
In fact, it's interesting to compare the screen with another built around an AU-Optronics 16 ms panel, because the image and rendering are exactly the same.
So it's a sort of disappointment. In terms of pixel responsiveness, the 12 ms panel remains at the level of the second best that we know.
However, it should be noted that if the response time of the screen hasn't changed, at least it hasn't gotten any worse, and that's something, added to which there is a gain in the form of better color rendering. The black is deeper, and that's no small thing.
As with the NEC 71VM, for example, which uses the AU 16 ms panel, you can see "snow" in large areas of flat color when the panel is looked at closely. Otherwise, the ghosting in images has been reduced and the angle of vision increased, so that it is better than on Hydis panels.
Now, despite the way we are becoming used to screens and panels, we believe it is impossible to find a difference in ghosting between this new 12 ms panel and the previous 16 ms AU panel.
We hoped the 12 ms Samsung LCD would be an improvement.
