At 3200 dpi and 48 bits, negatives are digitized in 3 minutes 43 seconds. At this stage, the photos are produced in TIF form at just over 60 Mb and can be printed at 300 dpi in a 20 x 30 cm (8 x 12 inch) format. The Perfection 3200 works slightly faster at 2400 dpi, a per-negative print rate of 2 minutes 19 seconds.

At 3200, as at 2400 dpi, the scanner produced much sharper images than the print we had had developed at a conventional photo lab. But the color rendering was not as good, thanks to the automatic color correction provided by laboratories. In this case, it's up to the user to touch up the prints.
Color rendering
We greatly appreciated the Perfection 3200's driver, which allows you to play with various colorimetric profiles. The mode suggested, that involves no color correction, gives good results, but the color rendering on the color chart proved to be more faithful in ColorMatch RGB mode.
