Kingmax Survives with DDR3 to 2000 MHz

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any products from Kingmax in our labs, but this long-established performance player is moving forward with the latest high-speed parts.

Kingmax’s enthusiast line now includes finned heat spreaders that have a similar appearance to the "brand C" modules Tom’s Hardware has used in several reviews. The fins increase surface area for improved heat dissipation, and the DDR3 modules shown are rated at 2000MHz data rate and 9-9-9-24 timings using 2.15 volts.

The company was also showing DDR3-2000 without heat spreaders, plus several other modules including a 2 gigabyte DDR3-1066 notebook part (SO-DIMM). The majority of the parts shown are already shipping, and Kingmax is ready to take orders on its DDR3-2000.

I bought 4 gigs of the aXeRam PC2-9600 (1200MHz) for £170, stuck it in my Evga 680i board and started tweaking, reached 3-3-3-8 @ 800MHz using 2.0v, 4-3-4-8 @ 1066MHz using 2.0v, 5-4-4-12 @ 1115MHz using 2.0v, 5-5-5-15 @ 1200MHz using 2.2v, 5-5-5-16 @ 1312MHz using 2.2v.
All these settings got through various stress tests completely stable, other hardware used were X6800 cooled by a titan amanda tec cooler, PC P+C 850W PSU.
Would love to see a shoot out of the latest top spec ram (these included) with the likes of TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF thrown in, as far as i'm concerned for the price it's going to be hard to beat these clocks/timings as in bang for your buck.
