G.Skill sent us two memory products, the first one being a 4 GB dual channel kit. The F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ is rated at CL5-5-5-15 standard timings, which we could not improve upon at all. We even had to relax the timings some more when reaching for higher clock speeds.

Windows XP cannot handle the full 4 GB capacity, so you will have to go for a 64-bit OS to fully utilize the kit. As our tests showed, this product wasn't designed to reach speed records, but rather to answer the need for high memory capacity demands.

Speeds And Timings

The DDR2-800 DIMMs run at JEDEC default timings of CL5-5-5-15...

... and this remains valid up to the maximum clock speed of 457 MHz at 2.0 V (DDR2-914). Applying higher voltage did not allow us to shorten the timings or increase the clock speed any further. In exchange for these limitations, the memory kits offers a total capacity of 4 GB.
