System Results: SYSmark 2007 Preview on Windows XP vs. 7
We found it interesting that SYSmark 2007 runs best on Windows XP. You will hit better overall scores than on Windows 7, at least on our Core 2 Duo E6300 at 1.86 GHz. However, the faster hard drive helps to improve the individual scores slightly. Keep in mind that SYSmark 2007 is a rather heavy workload that taxes the CPU and memory more than the hard drive, which runs at low loads during the indivudual tests.
3D modeling largely depends on CPU and especially graphics horsepower and therefore doesn’t show benefits due to the faster hard drive.
The e-learning results are slightly improved with the Deskstar 7K2000.
The same applies to the productivity run.
Video creation is the only section that acutally runs better on Windows 7 than on Windows XP. Here we see massive advantages in favor of the newer hard drive.
The overall score shows that Windows 7 benefits a bit more from the newer hard drive than Windows XP.
