Handheld electronic gadgets appear to be among the hottest selling items this holiday season.
3Com's Palm V organizer tops the bestseller lists at online retailers Amazon.com and Buy.com, and the Palm IIIx was in the top three on both sites.
Other popular stocking stuffers so far include digital music players, digital cameras and handheld game players, with Nintendo expecting to sell more than 8 million Game Boys this year, thanks to Game Boy Color and the Pokemon craze. Four Game Boy titles based on Pikachu and friends currently sit at the top on the bestseller list for all software.
Analysts say consumers want digital gadgets because the technology has proven itself, and because lower prices have made the products affordable.
