Hammer Strategy Still Suspect
In reply to my story here AMD Hammers Intel with what?
An entity called athlonmank7 said, I just wanted to say I thought your comments on AMD sucked and you should stop playing favorites with Intel.
.
More pointedly, Andy Woudstra said, If AMD was not there with a good product you would be paying at least $2-3000 for the 2.2Gig P4, and you know I'm not wrong on that!
.
Now check out this story from Monday from my least favorite site CNET
. It says, IBM surged in server market share in 2001, gaining at the expense of Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer as the overall market shrank, new figures show.
My point wasn't about AMD's product or technology. And, it doesn't matter a mountain of turnips if you guys love AMD. You do, and they still can't turn a decent profit, or sustain growth - check out the financials here
.
Will IBM, Compaq, HP, or Dell love AMD for cutting margins, and bringing prices down in the server market? Is it going to make the market grow? Don't flame me; flame the AMD sales and marketing guys for being cheap, cheap, cheap. Think cheap, and you'll always be cheap.
