Halo wins game of the year award
The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) held its 5th annual Interactive Achievement Awards in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox), developed by Bungie, garnered four awards, including the top honor of overall Game of the Year.T he Academy presented awards in 29 craft, console, computer and online categories. Also honored was Will Wright, creator of SimCity and The Sims and co-founder of Maxis, getting a free pass into the Academy Hall of Fame. John Carmack, last year's Hall of Fame inducteee, came back to make the presentation.
