Benchmark Results: World In Conflict

by

World in Conflict delivers solid performance across all of the cards, and while the minimum frame rate drops below 30, we need to keep in mind that a real-time strategy game doesn't need the same fluid frame rates as a first person shooter.

While the GeForce cards show an average frame rate advantage, the minimum frame rates are just as competitive on the Radeon models. The Super Clocked Gigabyte Radeon HD 5870 manages the highest minimum frame rate in this title, almost achieving 30 FPS.

At 2560x1600, the minimum frame rates are almost identical across the board. The slight advantage in average frame rates demonstrated by the GeForce GTX 480 cards is less impressive, but the factory-overclocked Zotac AMP! edition card does boast a notable advantage here.

Can't see the HIS pushing much air out the back of the case since the cooler shroud doesn't reach the backplate!

Quote :At 100% fan speed, the card is noisier than a stock Radeon HD 5870. but it manages to keep the GPU cool, with temperatures under 70 degrees Fahrenheit at full load.

erm...
70 degrees Fahrenheit = 21.1111111 degrees Celsius

Quote :Strangely, the iCooler V on the HIS card doesn't seem to be performing any better than the stock cooling solution, and actually delivers a the opposite effect, especially at idle.

This will be due to the design aiming for a certain temperature and aiming to keep the noise down.

Quote :Having said that, the GeForce GTX 480 certainly does have its strengths, and if your desires include CUDA, PhysX, and 3D Vision, then this card is a very attractive option.

And it folds like a beast!

Or that the card has higher idle speed than reference?
