Nvidia GeForce GTX 465 Tested by Chinese Site

A new addition to the Fermi family coming soon.

It's been no well-kept secret, and now we see early, semi-real evidence that there will soon be a new addition to the Fermi family.

A GeForce GTX 460 with 1GB RAM has been spotted on several European e-tailer websites.

Now adding to that today is a discovery of a GeForce GTX 465 benchmarked on Chinese website eNet. According to the report, the GTX 460 was renamed to 465 because Nvidia is saving the 460 number for a GF104 part, while the 465 is still using the same GF100 as the current Fermi chips on the market.

What sets this GTX 465 example apart from the GTX 470 already on the market is that there are 352 stream processors, 1GB of RAM, and a 256-bit memory interface, while the GTX 470 has 448 stream processors, 1280MB of RAM, and a 320-bit interface.

The GTX 465 keeps the same 607MHz GPU and 1,215MHz shader clock, but it has an effective 3,206MHz clock for the GDDR5 memory, which is down from the 3,348MHz on the GTX 470.

From its benchmarks, eNet says that the GTX 465 is "slightly faster" than an ATI Radeon HD 5870 running Far Cry 2, but it was "significantly slower" than an ATI Radeon HD 5830 in Crysis Warhead, and it performed somewhere in between an ATI Radeon HD 5850 and 5870 in Unigine Heaven benchmark.

Early European pricing suggests that this card could launch at around $300. Hopefully we'll know more by the time Computex rolls around next month.
