Growth reported for Corel's WordPerfect Office
Corel claims it is gaining ground in a race for the best-selling alternative suite behind Microsoft’s Office package. After years of uncertainty about the future of the software, WordPerfect Office 12 is outselling the closest competitor, Lotus SmartSuite, at a ratio of 34:1 and is outselling Sun StarOffice at a ratio of 192:1, Corel said on Monday. The growth results in an installed base growth of WordPerfect of one million per quarter.
The company will debut generation 12 of the office suite in April with a $100 price tag for the Professional version and $70 for the Home edition. (THG)
