Google restores Deja Usenet archive
Though Google was criticized roundly for taking part of the Dega.com archive of Usenet posting off-line while improving search functions of the massive store of materials, some of those critics are now wondering if they are happy to have such easily accessible records of earlier posting. More than 500-million archived posting dating back to 1995 are now available online.
Wired News quotes one critic of the temporary shutdown who said, "Google certainly did optimize the search function, and I have found all the posts I made when I was 18. I cannot believe what an absolute, utter asshole I was back then."
