Google drops Froogle moniker
Mountain View (CA) - Google is dropping its Froogle name for its shopping comparison engine and have renamed it to Google Product Search. Google officials like Marissa Mayer, VP of Search and User Experience, believe the new name will cause less confusion. In her official Google blog posting, Mayer said the old name caused "confusion for some" because it didn't describe what the product does.
The Froogle term probably came about as a nifty combination of frugal, meaning cheap and inexpensive in money matters, and the Google brand name. The service searches products and can rank prices from brand name stores, along with eBay listings.
You can access Google Product Search from the Google home page or by clicking here .
