Google opens virtual library
Google and Yahoo stepped up their battle for consumer eyeballs Thursday with the search engine launching a virtual library while the Internet portal upgraded its mapping service to better challenge Google Maps.
Mountain View, California-based Google and Yahoo, located just a few miles north in Sunnyvale, have spent millions in recent months rolling out communications tools, news content, and other offerings as they seek to fashion themselves as full-service consumer sites to draw more users.
