Global virus maps online
Network Associates Inc.'s virus subsidiary, McAfee.com Corp., has joined Trend Micro in putting a graphic representation of computer virus infection rates online. McAfee says that access to its 780,000 subscribers allows the company to collect data on viral propagation. Though it is not clear that the maps are really that much of a boon to virus fighters, they're interesting and will be more so when they reflect true real-time infection rates rather than daily numbers.
