Get ready for 'UltimateTV'
Microsoft will join forces with DirectTV and Thomson Multimedia to market `UltimateTV', a new system designed to make television more interactive and personalized.
Developed by Microsoft's WebTV Networks, the service integrates digital video recording, Internet access and interactive TV. Viewers will be able to watch two shows at the same time, record over 30 hours of digital quality programming for later viewing, and choose from more than 500 hours per week of interactive TV.
The UltimateTV system is expected to be available by the 2000 holiday shopping season.
